FAQs

Who or what is Cowpa?

Cowpa was the family nickname for my father. Raising me in Seattle, Washington, he taught me the values of family, food, and outdoor activities like fishing, camping, and sports. He gave me a passion for making great food, and the courage to pursue my entrepreneurial dreams. He lost his battle against cancer in June of 2022, surrounded by loved ones in his slice of paradise in the Bitterroot valley.

How are these bites good for brain health?

Thanks to the walnuts, chia powder, and fruits, these bites come loaded with omega-3s and antioxidants, both of which are widely considered beneficial for cognitive function. Specifically, omega-3 fatty acids help protect healthy brain cells and develop new ones. This makes them considered an essential fatty acid. Our bodies do not produce them fon their own, we must get it through our diet, and Omega-3s derive only from plant sources. Walnuts and chia seeds happen to be excellent sources for this.

Why bites instead of bars?

For a few reasons…

  • First, bars are single-serve, which means you are stuck with how large or small the bar is. One might not be enough, leading you to want another. Or it is more than you want. Either way you are stuck with what you bought, and they typically do not save well.
  • Second, they are not good for sharing. Would you want to bite off the same bar your friend has been munching on?
  • Third, because they are single-serve they lead to waste, and lots of it. 1 bar = 1 serving = 1 wrapper. This adds up fast. And in most cases they are not recycle-friendly.

We went the bite route because we wanted a snack for consumers that allowed them to eat at their own pace, have access to multiple servings in a single container, and in a package that is recyclable, reusable, and easy to save for later, reducing waste.

Do they need to be refrigerated?

No! These bites are very shelf-stable and can be enjoyed at room temperature or right out of the fridge. It’s up to personal preference. Speaking of which we like them out of the fridge with coffee in the morning. They firm up a little bit, and the cold + sweet texture pairs well with the bitterness of coffee.

Are they gluten free?

Yep, sure are.

Are there other flavors?

We are constantly working on developing new flavors and are always open to feedback and ideas!
